President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired the National Procurement Commission meeting; the commission approved 10 contracts with the value of over AFN 618 million in the spheres of liquid gas, water and cereals and finalized the project of the pilgrims airlift to Makkah.
The commission approved a series of contracts including extension of the fiber optics network at 26 regional and central sites of Afghan National Police; connection of 113 Microwave links and 3 VSATs related to Ministry of Interior; providing drinkable water to Ministry of Defense; purchasing and conveying 6759 metric tons of concentrate – animal feeds – related to Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock for Badghis, Ghor and Jawzjan provinces; repairing of 5 generators belonging to MoD; cereals needed for General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Centers as well as procurement of liquid gas for Ministry of Interior.
President Ghani urged the relevant officials to fulfill the needs of other provinces faced with lack of concentrates. The commission directed MoI and MoD to provide the grounds for purchasing meat from domestic livestock owners.
The commission rejected the contract awarding request for ANA personnel airlift – charter – and decided that negotiations in this regard should be launched with Ariana Airlines. The commission stressed on providing ANA personnel with appropriate airlift and directed that two MoD aircrafts must be reactivated with the assistance of Ariana Airlines.
The commission ratified the combined delegation’s report on awarding the contract of procuring meat for VIP Protection Force Directorate and Administrative Office of the President. With regard to the meat contract related to the Office of Chief of Staff to the President, the commission issued decision on launching negotiation with the contractor to decrease the contract price.
NPC also approved the recommendations put forward by Ministry of Interior on signing memorandum of understanding to connect 24 fiber optics links as well as disagreement of the contractor to procure meat needed for General Directorate of Logistics, MoI based on the commission’s decisions made in its previous meeting.
The commission finalized the project of pilgrims airlift to Saudi Arabia, underscoring the expedition of the process.
The NPC members were joined by the Chief Executive, the Second Vice-President, minister of Economy, acting ministers of Finance and Justice, senior adviser to the president on infrastructures and national observers from Parliamentary Anti-Corruption Caucus as well as representatives from Finance, Budget and National Economy commissions of the House of People.
