The Cabinet of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan approved the Ministry of Education’s plan on establishment of loan fund for teachers.
After approval, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani personally contributed AFN 2 million to the fund, underscoring the necessity to respect the high status of teacher and to address economic needs of this open-minded stratum of society.
Similarly, the cabinet members vowed to contribute 20 percent of their and deputy minister’s one-month salary to the fund. The cabinet tasked Ministry of Finance to transfer AFN 15 million from the MoE’s budget to the fund.
In this meeting, the cabinet approved a range of issues in different areas including the regulation on archiving foreign policy documents; the regulation on arrangement of Kankor examination affairs; Regulation of Orphanages; Pension Policy reform plan; a few cases of land transfer; distributing residential plots for heirs of the ANDSF martyrs in Kapisa province; adding supplement amounts in ordinary and developmental budget; giving time-based priority for implementation of development projects in cold provinces; and seven international agreements.
The cabinet also approved the fundamental reforms plan for Directorate of Pension Treasury in principle.
