Afghan Security Forces Subdue Taliban

Local officials on East of the country announced that Afghan Security Forces regained control of  Nuristan province’s Want Waygal district, which was captured by Taliban on Friday, through a counterattack.  According to reports from Nuristan on Friday, Taliban had captured the district after heavy clashes between the two sides. Meantime, local officials in Kunduz province expressed that clashes between security forces and the Taliban militants are continuing at Char Dara district. Security forces are persisting to suppress the government oppositions in Takhar, Kunduz, Faryab, Badakhshan, Sar-i-Pul, Uruzgan, Ghazni and Helmand provinces.

Since start of the current year, it was highly expected that Taliban would increase their attacks to the highest extent possible, targeting government spots. On the other hand, after fourteen years of joint operations by Afghan Security Forces and International troops to suppress insurgents, the leadership is now in hands of Afghan forces who, now, undertake all operations solely themselves. The joint operations have ended this year. Thus, the Taliban have been doing their best to intensify attacks on some remote areas. Struggle and resistance of security forces against the Taliban shows the elevating and vigorous will of Afghan soldiers to fight against foreign intrusions.

Recently, the Taliban planned an attack on Wolesi Jirga, which was wisely repelled by national security forces. The incident took place on Monday, Saratan 1(June, 22) in Kabul where all seven terrorists were perished by one national army officer. This attack, which Taliban designed as a parade and display of their power, was subdued with intelligence and cautious of the security forces. Preparedness, on-time response, and brisk subversions by the security forces exhibit their great combating capacities.

Every instance that the Taliban plan for terroristic attacks to spread fear and terror, their aim is to create a gap between people and the government. People’s encouragement and support for the soldier who perished the terrorists indicate that Taliban cause hatred and disgust; and people portray the ones who show devotion from themselves, as heroes of their country. On the other hand, encouragement of the president and high-ranking authorities from the dedicated soldier is an evidence of unity and solidarity between National Unity Government and its People. Although Taliban organize attacks on government spots in remote areas, however, security forces’ coordination and efforts will eradicate their mean plans and actions.

As the president has frequently emphasized on security matters, bringing security and ending war are top priorities of National Unity Government. The president directly makes contacts with military commanders deployed at front lines of war and receives reports of security forces on daily basis. He tries to remove obstacles in coordination with his team. The President’s act of praising a soldier transmits this message to the oppositions that the government belongs to people, and people are sufficiently capable and prepared to defend National Unity Government.
